Balconette versus Balcony

If you live in a dense city, you know how frustrating it can be to find some fresh air. In many flats or homes, the windows are painted shut for one reason or another. The most common reason is that of safety concerns. But regardless of what the specific justification might be, permanently sealed windows can be somewhat stifling. Opening a window helps relieve tension, but it sometimes doesn’t provide the satisfaction of a breeze. In those cases, the best option is to go out on your balconette or balcony. They are great for saving money on energy costs, improving the view, and providing fresh air.

Saving on Energy Costs

A balconette or a balcony is a great way to cut down how much money you spend on your utility bills. Your lights might not make up a huge part of your electricity bill, but if you can keep them off during the day, you will save some extra money. Turning them off and opening up the curtains to your balcony will provide energy savings as well as natural lighting. You’ll let in a huge amount of light into your home, and it’s completely free! There is one consideration, though. You need to consider the way that sunlight heats up your home. If it is winter time, you might actually want to let in as much sunlight as possible to heat your home, as this will reduce how much you need to spend on heating costs. During the summer, you can open the door to the balcony and let in a cool breeze on nice days. You can save hundreds of pounds every year on heating and cooling your home.

If you are only trying to save money, a balconette is your best choice. Also called a Juliet balcony, these are very narrow balconies that provide a little bit of space. For the most part, they are designed to improve the facade from the exterior and allow you to open up a door to the outside. Because they are much smaller than balconies, they are also much more affordable.

Improving the View

A balconette or a balcony is designed to improve the way your home looks from both the outside and the inside. There are several different options for the railing of your balcony. The two main options are usually glass or metal. A glass balcony creates the illusion that there’s essentially nothing there. So, if you open up the balcony or balconette, it might look as if your home features a door leading into thin air. This isn’t necessarily the most desirable look from the outside; from the inside, though, it is very nice. You can open your balcony door to provide a maximum amount of sunshine, and your view is unobstructed by metal railings.

It’s important to note that a metal railing offers a few more options. Since the metal railing of the balcony will stand out against the facade of the house, they are generally designed to be seen. Manufacturers can produce metal rails in many different styles and shapes. If you want something bespoke, metal is the way to go. There are many different styles of architecture and design that you can borrow from, so you should consult with a professional to share your ideas as soon as possible.
